Very Simple Electric Motor

I built this little motor out of bordom, it runs on 6 or 12 volts DC from a battery charger,

I used a bamboo skewer for the shaft, a coil of 23awg magnet wire, a magnet from a broken speaker, paper clips for bearings and brushes, some cardboard and tape to hold it all together and this is what I got... See Video Clip

I replaced the magnet with a field coil wrapped around some steel wire I bent up, I wired the field coil in series with the armature, Performance is not as good as the motor above, but no magnet is needed... See Video Clip
